I'm from Jordan. I studied at Yarmouk University, Jordan. Then I worked for the Jordanian Ministry of Education as a school teacher. After that, I taught English at the Jordan University language center, then in the English Language Department at Irbid Private University, and a part-time teacher at the Yarmouk University language Center. Later, I got a PhD scholarship from the Hashemite University in Jordan. So, now I'm a graduate student at the University of Kansas Linguistics Department. My basic research interests are now focused on acoustic phonetics. Thanks to the University of Kansas Phonetics and Psycholinguistics Laboratory. Also interested in the psycholinguistic research on speech perception. Add to that an ongoing commitment to translation studies. A lot of fun comes from teaching. I teach Arabic at the African and African-American Studies Department. Laborious but fun work. I also had the privilege of teaching in one of the summer abroad programs. Last summer, I taught Arabic at Alakhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. Wonderful experience! See the program website This program is also running for the summer of 2005.
