Goals: This course will explore how various disciplines (e.g., PSYC, LING, PHIL, ANTH, EECS, SPLH) examine the mind, brain and behavior. These disciplines comprise a larger field of study known as Cognitive Science, which investigates questions related to the human mind. The questions scientists have been asking most recently have become increasingly more complicated; too complicated for any single field to fully answer. Only by combining the findings and research methodologies from the core scientific disciplines listed above can we hope to advance our understanding of ourselves. We will also utilize some of the academic resources at the University of Kansas as we explore several options for a major/career related to mind, brain and behavior.

Grades: Attendance (to the seminar and alternate meetings) is mandatory. There are no exams for this class. Your grade will be determined by attendance, the final grades on several short writing assignments, and the successful completion of various exercises or projects.
