The Association for Water and the Environment (AWE)
The Association for Water and the Environment is a student chapter of both the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation in the state of Kansas. The group provides professional development in water and wastewater engineering and science. AWE hosts guest speakers from water industries, participates in community outreach activities and tours water and wastewater treatment plants.
The student chapter was formed in November 2011. AWE received its student charter from WEF in Spring 2012 and its charter from AWWA in Fall 2014. Dr. Sturm helped found the student group and has continuously served as the advisor.
