I am currently a Lecturer in the English Department at the University of Kansas. I recently defended my dissertation, The Mainstream of Consciousness: James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, William Faulkner and Mass Modernism, wherein I argue that literary modernism—and the "stream of consciousness" technique, in particular—had a much wider, popular appeal than has been assumed. My areas of concentration are Modernism, Rhetoric & Pedagogy, and Critical Theory. I can portage a canoe for two miles without a break, I think Twin Peaks was the best show to ever appear on television, and I kissed Morrissey's neck in 1991. I live in Lawrence with my wife, Emily D. Wicktor, who is also a lecturer in the English Department at KU.

Turn off your TV (and someone else's!)—since Twin Peaks and The Office are on DVD, there's no reason to subject yourself to any more video game commercials.
Children of constant cell phone texters and video game players will evolve into batchildren, shrieking in fear at any intimations of interior consciousness.
