I am currently a lecturer/graduate student finishing my Ph.D. at the University of Kansas. My areas of concentration are Modernism, Rhetoric & Pedagogy, and Critical Theory. My dissertation will explore the connections between social class, stream-of-consciousness writing, and mass culture during the "high modernist" period. I can portage a canoe for two miles without a break, I think Twin Peaks was the best show to ever appear on television, and I kissed Morrissey's neck in 1991. I live in Lawrence with my wife, Emily, who is also a lecturer in the English Department at KU.

Turn off your TV (and someone else's!)—since Twin Peaks and The Office are on DVD, there's no reason to subject yourself to any more video game commercials.
Children of constant cell phone users and video game players will evolve into batchildren, shrieking in fear at any intimations of interior consciousness.
