**Textbook:**Linear Algebra by S. H. Friedberg, A. J. Insel, and L. E. Spence (4th Edition).**Prerequisites:**MATH 223 and MATH 290. Not open to students with credit in MATH 792.**Topics:**Vector spaces. Linear transformations and matrices. Matrix operations. Systems of linear equations. Determinants. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Diagonalization. Inner product spaces. Canonical forms.**Calculator:**Using graphing calculators is not required but encouraged. Acceptable graphing calculators are TI-83, TI-84, or equivalent. You will be allowed to use your graphing calculator for homework and tests.

- Test 1: Friday, March 3. In class.
- Test 2: Friday, April 14. In class.
- Final Exam: Friday, May 12, 10:30 AM.

- Assignments must be turned in at the beginning of the class the day it is due. Sending homework by email is not accepted.
- There will be regular quizzes.
- No late homework will be accepted and no make-up quizzes will be given.
- The two lowest homework scores (including missed assignments) and the lowest quiz score will be dropped at the end of the semester.
- Only two or three randomly chosen problems will be graded from each assignment .
- You are encouraged to discuss homework together, however each student must write their own solutions.
- Write complete justifications for all your solutions.
