About Me
Currently I am pursuing a Ph.D in Geography from the University of Kansas and working at the Kansas Applied Remote Sensing (KARS) Program. My Ph.D research is focused on the changing face of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or more specifically how Neogeography, Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and technology convergence are acting together to fundamentally change what a GIS is.
The Ph.D work continues on with my education at KU; I have previously received a Bachelor's in Anthropology and a Master's in Geography. My Master's thesis utilized GIS to create an archaeological predictive model of southwestern Kansas. In May 2007, the thesis was awarded the Outstanding Thesis of the Year by the University of Kansas.
